PagerDuty vs PagerCo: an honest head-to-head (2026)

A straight comparison of PagerDuty and PagerCo on price, paging channels, AI/automation, migration and India fit — including where PagerDuty is genuinely the stronger pick.

We make PagerCo, so this isn't a neutral review — but it is an honest one. PagerDuty is the category leader and genuinely good; the point here isn't to pretend otherwise, it's to help you see which tool fits which team. Every claim below is checkable.

The one-line version

PagerDuty is the deep, battle-tested incumbent with the biggest ecosystem — and it's priced like one, in USD. PagerCo is a modern, AI-native, India-first alternative that costs a fraction, pages over WhatsApp/DLT SMS, and imports your existing setup — while being younger and less broad.

Side by side

PagerDuty PagerCo
Starting paid price $21–$41+ /user/mo (USD) ₹599–₹999 /seat/mo (INR)
Billing USD, annual, card INR, Razorpay/UPI, GST invoice
Paging channels SMS, voice, push, email, Slack + WhatsApp and DLT-compliant Indian SMS
AI / automation Add-ons; AIOps on higher tiers AI investigation + Autopilot (autonomous remediation) built in
Migration in One-click importer for Opsgenie/PagerDuty/VictorOps
Ecosystem / integrations Hundreds, very mature Core monitors (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, New Relic, Sentry, CloudWatch) + webhooks/email/Events API
Track record at massive scale Years, huge deployments Newer
Best for Large/global orgs needing max breadth Startups & India-first teams wanting price + modern automation

Where PagerDuty is genuinely the better choice

Credibility means saying this plainly. Pick PagerDuty if:

  • You need the broadest integration catalog — hundreds of native, maintained integrations and deep ecosystem tie-ins.
  • You're a large or global enterprise that values a long track record at extreme scale and 24/7 enterprise support.
  • Your org has standardized on PagerDuty's automation/AIOps and event orchestration and relies on those specific workflows.
  • Procurement wants a USD enterprise vendor with the compliance paperwork already in a binder.

If those are you, PagerDuty earns its price.

Where PagerCo wins

  • Cost. Priced in INR, typically 2–4× cheaper for the same rotation once you add forex + 18% GST to PagerDuty's USD bill. (See the India pricing math →)
  • India-first paging. WhatsApp + DLT-compliant SMS + UPI/Razorpay + GST invoices — not a US tool retrofitted for India.
  • AI that acts, not just alerts. Autopilot investigates an incident, drafts a likely root cause, and (with your approval) runs your remediation runbooks — moving past "something broke" to "here's what and here's the fix."
  • You're not locked in. A one-click importer brings your schedules, escalation policies and integrations across in minutes.

How to decide

Ask three questions:

  1. What will it actually cost my team in INR, all-in? (Headcount × price × forex × 1.18 for GST.) For most Indian teams this alone is decisive.
  2. Do I need PagerDuty's breadth, or just reliable on-call + good automation? If it's the latter, you're paying for surface area you won't use.
  3. How painful is switching? With an importer, a lot less than you'd think.

If you want breadth and a global enterprise vendor, PagerDuty is a safe, strong choice. If you want modern automation, India-first paging, and a bill that makes sense in rupees, try PagerCo free — or import your current setup and see for yourself. Also worth knowing: if you're on Opsgenie, Atlassian is shutting it down on April 5, 2027, so a move is coming regardless.
